On Taxation:
I am committed to advocating and supporting city initiatives that do not needlessly increase property taxes without proof & plan of a real return on investment. I will act as a conscientious steward of your tax dollars to prevent wasteful spending, and encourage small, incremental district, and city wide improvements over time, with proper budgeting. I will inquire and propose having the City of Greenfield provide additional transparency into how much of your tax dollars go towards specific budget items, so that citizens of not only my district, but all of Greenfield can better understand how their tax dollars are spent.
On Education:
I am committed to establishing meaningful collaboration with the School Board, School District officials, GEF, and the local government to promote Greenfield & Whitnall, as well as facilitate communication with the surrounding school districts. All those involved must be treated with the respect and dignity they deserve as educators and leaders, through continued investment in educator training and financial support.
Our students, as they advance forward in life, must be given the ability to not only succeed, but emerge as leaders, not only for Greenfield, but for the State of Wisconsin has a whole. I will press for direct involvement from local businesses, and higher education, for vocational or continuing college education, by providing scholarships, grant awards, and work study internships to show the best Wisconsin has to offer our emerging leaders, to encourage them to stay in Wisconsin and grow the State economy.
In addition, we must work together as a community to create a solution to the needless amount of bullying, and improve student’s mental health, in and out of the school day, if the above is to be achieved in the long term.
On Public Safety:
We must have a strong police and fire presence, with proper staffing & assets for all shifts, to prevent the increasing amounts of burglary, theft, assault, arson, & drug abuse, especially in the 1st district of Greenfield, which borders meet directly with the City of Milwaukee. We must have cooperation from the City of Milwaukee to assist with crime that is bleeding into not only the 1st district, but the rest of Greenfield as a whole. I am committed to making our streets as safe as possible, with taking a hard stance against criminal activity, and assisting the police and fire commission as appropriate.
On Healthcare:
The City of Greenfield must continue to encourage our local healthcare providers to expand and provide additional services within a reasonable distance of our city districts. Curbing opiate abuse, and providing assistance to individuals who are suffering will prevent a significant amount of additional spending now in the future, to treat generations of individuals who have been harmed by not only large drug manufacturers, but by their local doctors, and assisting staff. I will support the Health Department’s initiatives on educating and instilling healthier behaviors that benefits all citizens of Greenfield.
On Quality of Life:
I will support the mayor’s initiatives on soliciting funds for the Quality of Life Fund via non-intrusive advertising, donations from local businesses and foundation grants, for improving our parks, pavilions, walking & biking paths, public library, and community center. I will continue to work with the City Arborist & DPW to re-establish our tree canopy, and beatify the continuing development of green spaces in the City of Greenfield, and continue our annual recognition from Tree City USA & the Arbor Day Foundation. I will continue to work with the Beautification Committee to additionally gain Bee, Bird, and Monarch City awards.
On Accessibility:
I will be available, via office hours, weekly, for citizens to not only visit me in person, but be available to contact via phone. I will make every effort to accommodate citizens with disabilities to visit with me. There will be an email to contact me during non-office hours as necessary. I will provide, at minimum, quarterly newsletters made available (digitally) and via mail (please sign up for my mailing list), so that citizens of the first district are properly informed as to what is occurring and improving during the year.
